This policy explains what personal data is processed when you visit realmhunt.com and when you play Realm Hunt at play.realmhunt.com, why, and what rights you have. We collect as little as possible: there are no ads, no advertising trackers, and your data is never sold.
Who is responsible
Realm Hunt is run by a private individual in Sweden, who is the data controller for the data described here. Contact: vilounius@gmail.com
Playing the game (play.realmhunt.com)
As a guest. When you open the game, the server creates an anonymous guest account. No name or e-mail is needed. Your browser stores a random session key and a copy of your game save in local storage, so you can continue where you left off.
Game data. The server stores your hunter (the name you choose, class, level, items, progress and tutorial progress) and a history of your hunts (enemy, result, number of turns and the actions taken, used to verify scores). The name of your hunter, its level and its results are shown publicly on the leaderboards in the Hall of Hunters.
If you create an account. We store your e-mail address and your password in hashed form (scrypt) – we can never see your password. The e-mail address is only used to sign you in, and to contact you about your account if you ask us to.
Technical data. Your IP address is used briefly, in the server’s memory, to protect the game against abuse (limiting how many requests can be made in a short time). It is not written to the game database.
Legal basis. We process this data to provide the game you have asked to use (performance of a contract, GDPR art. 6(1)(b)) and to keep it secure and fair (legitimate interest, art. 6(1)(f)).
How long data is kept
- Sign-in sessions expire after 90 days without use.
- Your hunter, account and hunt history are kept for as long as you play. Ask us to delete them at any time and we will.
- Database backups are kept for up to 14 days and then overwritten, so deleted data disappears from backups within that time.
This website (realmhunt.com)
The website runs on WordPress. It does not use analytics or advertising cookies. If you leave a comment, WordPress stores the name, e-mail address, comment text, IP address and browser user agent you send, to show the comment and to detect spam; comments and their metadata are kept until they are deleted. If you choose to, your name and e-mail can be saved in a cookie for one year so you don’t have to type them again. An anonymised hash of your e-mail may be checked against the Gravatar service (Automattic) to show a profile picture.
Who else handles data
- Hostinger hosts the website and the game server (as our data processor).
- Google Fonts: the game and the website load fonts from Google’s servers, which means your browser sends your IP address to Google when the fonts are loaded.
We do not sell or share your data with anyone else.
Your rights
You have the right to get a copy of the data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to processing and to take your data with you. E-mail vilounius@gmail.com from the address on your account (or tell us your hunter’s name if you play as a guest) and we will answer within one month. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (IMY), imy.se.
Children
Realm Hunt is not directed at children under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes
If we change how data is handled – for example by adding analytics – this page will be updated first, with a new date at the top.
